The world was an oyster from my glass offices at the fancy corporate HQs of top companies of the country. Outside highly qualified colleagues with years of experience and kept up to date with regular trainings were ever ready to help out. Best practices and well-designed templates were abound to ensure smooth functioning of every task in a consistent manner. Sophisticated information systems were there to analyse and churn out critical matrices to aid in decision making. Dedicated support services from research to marketing to HR to accounting made life as easy as possible leaving me to focus on my core activities only. Things are very different now as a startup entrepreneur with limited resources. The challenge is to instill those best practices without being overbearing to build a good team. Then the team will build the business.

Challenges small, medium and micro businesses face the world over can be summarised as to:

  • Recruit the well-qualified and retain the experienced staff
  • Overcome operational inefficiencies due to loosely knit organizational structure
  • Invest in expensive state-of-art collaboration and business management tools and systems
  • Receive critical information on time to resolve issues and/or take corrective action
  • Better manage client relationship
  • Improve client service by training staff despite limited resources
